Middlesbrough have set their sights on signing Sheffield Wednesday defender Morgan Fox this summer, Football Insider can reveal.
The left-back, 26, is out of contract at Hillsborough in the summer and yet to agree new deal.
A Boro source has told Football Insider that they have been hugely impressed by the impact Fox has made at Wednesday and are keeping close tabs on his situation.
Jonathan Woodgate’s side are among a number of clubs to have shown an interest in the Welshman.
Boro have made a new left-back one of their top targets in the transfer window.
Club scouts have delivered glowing reports about the performances of Fox, who has been a mainstay of Garry Monk’s side this season.
Fox has made 24 Championship starts among 31 appearances in all competitions this season and even weighed in with three goals from his defensive position.
Capped by Wales six times at Under-21 level, the full-back is in his third season at Wednesday, where he has accumulated 102 appearances since signing from Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2017.
Fox also played 116 times for the south London outfit and also had a spell on loan at Notts County.
Wednesday sit 15th in the Championship table while clubs wait for news on when and if the postponed football season will be resumed.
Boro are placed at 19th in the division, just three places and two points above the relegation zone.
