Bolton Wanderers have taken former Sheffield Wednesday star Kieran Lee on trial, Football Insider can reveal.
The versatile midfielder is a free agent after leaving Championship side Wednesday in the summer.
The 32-year-old linked up with Bolton for training on Monday and they are assessing him with a view to a potential transfer.
Lee played 30 games for the Owls last season, including 20 starts in the Championship.
His contract was extended for a month at the end of last season to cover the rest of the campaign that was delayed because of coronavirus.
Despite featuring in three games after the restart his contract was not renewed for this campaign and after eight years at Hillsborough, he left the club.
In total, he played 217 times for Sheffield Wednesday across all competitions and under six different permanent managers.
Lee now heads to the University of Bolton Stadium with manager Ian Evatt looking to reinforce his midfield options.
After winning just one game in his first 11 in charge, Evatt has begun to turn the Trotters around in recent weeks.
Before losing to Port Vale and Walsall in the past two weeks, Bolton won five games on the bounce.
They have climbed to 16th in League Two but are just five points behind Leyton Orient in the final play-off place.
They visit high-fliers Cheltenham Town tonight before hosting Tranmere Rovers before Christmas.
