Exclusive: Mills raves over 26y/o with 'Undoubted quality' as Everton reportedly plot swoop

Danny Mills believes Everton would love a player like Juventus midfielder Emre Can on their books.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-England defender admitted he thought Can is a player of undoubted quality and that him joining the Toffees would be a decent move.

It was recently reported that the Toffees were plotting a £30million swoop to sign the 26-year-old midfielder but it was stated his past career at Anfield could be a problem.

Mills explained that Can would get booed by Reds fans if he played for the Toffees, but suggested he didn’t think the issue would stop a move happening.

When asked if Everton would love a player like Can and whether his ex-Liverpool playing days are an issue, Mills told Football Insider: “Yeah of course.

“And I think we’re beyond that these days as fans will accept players will move on, it’s not Gerrard or Carragher moving over.

“It’s a player who did relatively well at Liverpool, he’ll get booed when he plays them, but that’s it, it’s not a huge deal anymore.

“And if they can get in some quality players then for sure, I don’t think Can will be bothered as it’s not like he’s a Liverpool lad and is all red.

“And it’s not like they’re direct rivals at the moment, so I don’t think it’ll be a problem, and he’s a player of undoubted quality and that will be a decent move.”

Can has struggled to feature for Juventus this season as he has only racked up eight appearances so far.

The German midfield enforcer joined the Italian giants in July 2018 following the expiration of his Liverpool contract.

In other Everton news, Noel Whelan suggested that big-name Toffees player is fighting to save his future under Ancelotti.
