Exclusive: Mills wowed by reported Aston Villa pursuit as believes it could be perfect move
Danny Mills believes signing Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland could be the perfect January move for Aston Villa to make.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-England international admitted he thought Butland would be desperate to get back to the top-level of football.
It was recently reported that the Villans are in pursuit of the 26-year-old Stoke keeper with first-choice keeper Tom Heaton set to be kept on the sidelines due to injury.
Mills explained that Butland would be the perfect signing in January with Heaton injured as all he needs is a confidence boost in order to get back to his best.
When asked if going for Butland could be the perfect January move with Heaton injured, Mills told Football Insider: “Yeah, Jack has had quite a fall from grace and he’ll be desperate to get back to the top-level of football.
“He’s a good keeper, he just needs a kick-start to his career again, he’s a fabulous shot-stopper.

“He just need a confidence boost, someone to believe in him in order for him to get back in between the sticks and do what he’s good at.”
The 26-year-old shot-stopper has made several high-profile errors this season and has conceded 34 goals in the 20 outings he has made for Stoke so far.
Butland previously impressed in the Premier League, making 77 appearances, and even managed to win nine caps for England.
