Millwall are close to sealing a double deal to sign both Mason Bennett and Scott Malone from Derby County, Football Insider understands.
The former of the pair spent the second half of last season on loan at the Den and scored two goals in his nine appearances for the club.
A source at Millwall has told Football Insider that the club are in advanced talks to re-sign both the 24-year-old attacker for next season and 29-year-old left-back Malone on temporary deals.
The defender spent two-and-a-half years at The Den between 2012 and 2015 following his move from Bournemouth and made 71 appearances for the club.
He left to join Cardiff City and, after spells at Fulham and Huddersfield, joined Derby in the summer of 2018.
The full-back has played a total of 56 times for the Rams and started the 2019/20 season as Phillip Cocu’s first-choice left-back.
However, he has dropped down the pecking order at Pride Park and made just three substitute appearances totalling just 19 minutes in the Championship in 2020.
A return to Millwall could see Malone battle it out with the likes of Murray Wallace and Shane Ferguson for a place on the left-hand side of the defence.
Meanwhile, Bennett made just seven appearances for Derby last season before his loan move to join Gary Rowett’s men in January.
The versatile forward started seven times for the Lions, primarily as a left-winger, and scored against both Blackburn and Swansea City.
Millwall have already brought in one new attacker on loan this summer in the shape of Tottenham youngster Troy Parrott, while midfielder Ryan Woods has also joined on a temporary basis from Stoke City.
