Exclusive: Multiple Championship clubs set sights on signing MK Dons player

A host of Championship clubs are plotting moves to sign in-form MK Dons hit-man Rhys Healey at the end of the season, Football Insider understands.

The centre-forward netted his 12th goal of the season with a superb individual strike in the 1-1 draw with League One promotion hopefuls Rotherham United on Saturday.

A source at the Stadium MK has told Football Insider that a number of second-tier sides are keeping tabs on the 25-year-old, with Russell Martin’s men braced for offers this summer.

Healey has now scored six goals in his last seven games to help fire MK Dons away from trouble at the wrong end of League One, the club now sitting 18th in the table.

He has the best goals to minutes ratio in the third tier with 11 goals in 18 games, having sat out three months of the season through injury.

The former Cardiff man bounced back from a thigh problem which forced him to miss 18 games in all competitions, making his comeback on Boxing Day.

The Manchester-born striker was signed permanently by MK Dons by former manager Paul Tisdale last summer, having impressed during a loan spell between August 2018 and January 2019.

He scored nine goals in 21 games before being recalled by Cardiff, his goals helping the club secure promotion from League Two.

Healey’s red-hot form has unsurprisingly brought him onto the radar of a number of clubs higher up the football pyramid and the Dons are preparing themselves for interest in the forward when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

In other MK Dons news, it can be REVEALED that the club turned down a bid for one of their own attackers during the January window.
