Everyone at Newcastle United will be worrying about their futures at the club ahead of the impending takeover, according to Noel Whelan.

The former Leeds and Middlesbrough striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, believes the Amanda Staveley-fronted consortium will “ruffle feathers” on Tyneside with a major overhaul both on and off the pitch.

As revealed by Football Insider last week, the Premier League are set to give the prospective takeover bid the green light after a forensic investigation into alleged piracy issues raised no red flags.

Forbes have since claimed that the takeover deal is all but complete, with the Chronicle stating that talks have taken place between the would-be owners and Newcastle City Council.

With much talk of what is going to happen on the pitch and in the dugout under new ownership, Whelan has warned that there will be major changes behind the scenes as well.

Whelan told Football Insider: “Everyone’s under pressure, everyone’s going to be looked upon and questioned. New manager coming in, new owners coming in.

“New owners sometimes say who they want to keep. It’s a complete overhaul that’s going to happen at Newcastle United. Nobody, even in the backroom staff, even way up, you’re talking CEOs and people on the board.

“No one is safe because there’s going to be a complete overhaul of that football club. People are going to be making completely different decisions and they’ll be looking at the quality and who to bring in.

They’re looking at a different quality now. This new consortium will not be worried about ruffling feathers. There’s a little bit of uncertainty for everyone at Newcastle but a lot of excitement also.”

Newcastle have been under Mike Ashley’s rule for the last 13 years, with the Sports Direct supremo enduring an a frayed relationship with the Toon Army.

The club have suffered two relegations during his time in charge, while there have been a number of unpopular and controversial decisions made by the top brass.

In other Newcastle United news, it can be REVEALED that 23-year-old is unlikely to play for the club again after exit talks.
