Noel Whelan expects Eddie Nketiah to be sidelined through injury for around three weeks in a major Leeds United blow.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-United striker has claimed there’s no chance of the five-goal forward, 20, being back before the international break.
Nketiah missed Leeds’ Championship win over QPR on Saturday with an abdominal injury sustained in training on Friday.

Marcelo Bielsa subsequently explained he did not know how long the Arsenal loanee would be absent, but Whelan is certain it will be a lengthy lay-off.
“He has a stomach muscle strain and those are nasty injuries,” Whelan told Football Insider. “He was going for a scan and we are awaiting the results of that, but I think he will be unable to play for around three weeks, maybe more.
“It doesn’t surprise me he has a strain around that region because he is a dynamic player and those types are more prone to them.
“It will take time to repair the damage, and that is a major blow as he would have started on Saturday.”
Nketiah is set to miss out on England Under-21s fixtures during the international break after scoring a hat-trick for them in the last break.
He is in line to miss Saturday’s home clash against Blackburn Rovers and faces a race against time to be fit for the 23rd November trip to Luton Town, the first of three matches in eight days.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that Newcastle United held an Elland Road transfer mission on Saturday.
