Leeds United are keeping close tabs on Reading midfielder Andy Rinomhota, Football Insider can reveal.

The Championship giants’ scouts are regularly watching the 22-year-old as they assess targets ahead of January and next summer.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider that Victor Orta’s recruitment team have set their sights on Rinomhota and he is on their list of transfer targets.

The defensive midfielder is being considered by United for both January and next summer’s transfer window.

Leeds’ first choice midfield anchorman is Kalvin Phillips, widely regarded as the best in his position in the Championship.

However, there is no real alternative to Phillips at Elland Road and Marcelo Bielsa turned to the emergency option of centre-back Ben White to replace him in last Saturday’s 2-0 win at Huddersfield.

The Leeds academy product was unavailable for the first time this season as he served a one-match suspension.

Rinomhota was born in Leeds but joined Reading’s youth ranks in 2015 and has worked his way up the levels to establish himself in the club’s first team.

He won Reading’s player of the season award for his performances in the last campaign, only the fifth home-grown player to do so after Gylfi Sigurðsson, Shane Long, Alex Pearce and Jordan Obita.

Rinomhota has started 13 league matches across 19 appearances in all competitions for the Royals this season.

He signed a contract in February of this year that runs until the summer of 2022.

In the latest Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED there has been a major Ben White transfer development.
