Paul Robinson was in awe of the idea that Tottenham may have a chance of signing Chelsea attacker Willian.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O'Leary, the ex-Spurs No.1 shared that he thought the Blues winger is a top-quality player who'd fit perfectly into Jose Mourinho's squad.

It was recently reported that Spurs had contacted the representatives of Willian regarding a January swoop with him in the last six months of his Chelsea contract.

Tottenham fans have previously booed William when watching their side face the Blues as the Brazilian was originally expected to join Spurs not Chelsea back in the summer of 2013.

Robinson explained that it didn't matter that Willian's relationship with Spurs fans was already rocky as if he helped bring trophies to the club, all will be forgiven.

When asked about Spurs being linked with Willian, Robinson told Football Insider: "I wouldn't care about what he has said about Spurs in the past, look at what Mourinho has said about Spurs in the past.

"If Willian became available, he is a top-quality player and if there is anyway Mourinho could convince him to come to Spurs, he'd be a brilliant addition.

"I think he'd fit into the squad perfectly as he's a top-class player and you know what's gone on in the past is irrelevant.

"If he performs in a Tottenham shirt, there won't be a problem.

"Mourinho said previously he'd never become Tottenham manager, so I'm sure with a couple of wins and a couple of trophies in the cabinet, all will be forgiven."
