Paul Robinson has tipped a top-four Premier League club to prise giant defender Issa Diop from West Ham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England goalkeeper revealed he is a big admirer of the centre-back signed by the Hammers in the summer of 2018.
Diop has emerged as a key player in Manuel Pellegrini’s side and played the full 90 minutes in all 12 of the club’s Premier League and cup matches this season.
Arsenal are among the leading top-flight clubs keeping close tabs on Diop, 22, and Robinson believes he is destined for a move from east London if he continues his current rate of progress.
“Any centre-half as a goalkeeper you can trust is a dream,” Robinson told Football Insider. “Diop’s proven this season that he’s reliable, strong, very very capable and he’s been a part of West Ham’s success.
“He is good enough for a top-four team. He’s obviously been heavily scouted, and it was a coup for West Ham to get him.
“He will be one of these players that will be watched constantly, he’ll be monitored by the bigger teams and if he continues to do what he does, perform the way he does, he’ll have top-four options going forward.”
Diop was signed by West Ham from Toulouse in his native France for a fee of around £22million.
Capped by France at Under-21 level, the 6ft 4in star has made 50 appearances for the Hammers and established himself as the team’s standout defender.
