Liverpool will hold talks with Motherwell starlet Sam Campbell in the coming days as they look to beat Leeds United and Brighton to his signature, Football Insider has learned.

The Premier League champions are one of three Premier League clubs battling to sign the defender, 16, from the Scottish Premiership outfit.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Campbell is set to visit Liverpool for discussions and a tour of their stadium and training facilities.

He is also set to do the same at Leeds over the next fortnight as both clubs attempt to convince him to sign.

The calibre of the clubs involved demonstrate the scale of Campbell's talent and potential.

Football Insider has been told the wonderkid has yet to make up his mind which of his suitors to join after they all had bids for him accepted by Motherwell.

The Scottish Premiership club have given the green light for him to head south of the border to hold discussions with any of his suitors.

Liverpool have the chance to win Campbell over with their sales pitch and plans to integrate him into their set-up.

The youngster has snubbed the offer of a three-year contract from Motherwell, who are keen to keep hold of him.

He is yet to make his first-team debut but has impressed for the Scottish club's youth teams and was playing for their Under-18s when he was just 14.

Campbell, who joined Motherwell in December 2018, is regarded as one of the outstanding young talents in Scotland.

At Liverpool, the plan would be for him to initially join their Under-18s before graduating to their higher standard Under-23s.
