Premier League clubs are facing a “big” issue following Manchester City’s latest ticket price update, sources have told Football Insider.

Several top-flight sides have moved to increase their ticket prices for the 2025-26 season as they look to boost their revenues.

Manchester United announced on 18 June their matchday prices could reach £97 next season, while the most expensive ticket at Old Trafford for the 2024-25 campaign was £66.

Man City confirmed a season ticket price freeze in April following a backlash from fans over the ticketing situation at the Etihad Stadium.

Liverpool, West Ham, Brentford, Tottenham, Wolves and Burnley have also decided to freeze their rates for the season ahead.

Man City have now gone one step further after announcing on 13 June their lowest-price tickets will be reduced for 2025-26.

The 10-time English champions said for the Manchester derby or an equivalent fixture, the lowest-priced adult tickets have been reduced by 43 per cent, while the highest-priced tickets have been slashed by 22 per cent.

Sources have told Football Insider Man City’s ticket price cuts are set to cause a “big” issue for various Premier League clubs in their bid to continue increasing their own rates.

Man City move could block Premier League clubs' plans

Football Insider revealed in December Premier League ticket prices are set to skyrocket over the coming years as clubs aim to boost their matchday revenue.

Man City’s new approach could be set to put a spanner in the works after multiple fan groups have protested against the ticket prices at their respective clubs.

In an interview on Man City’s media channel last month, chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak admitted he was “not ok” with how the club’s ticketing strategy played out in public earlier this year.

Finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider fights had broken out among Man City fans following the ticketing issues at the Etihad.

However, fan groups have now welcomed the club’s decision to reduce their ticket prices for next season.

Man City could now block Ilkay Gundogan transfer

Man City have had a busy start to the summer transfer window after securing the signings of Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Tijjani Reijnders.

There are also likely to be several stars leaving the Etihad in the coming weeks, but Ilkay Gundogan might not be one of them.

Football Insider revealed on 18 June Man City could block a summer exit for Gundogan.

The 34-year-old has emerged as a target for Turkish giants Galatasaray in recent days after a disappointing 2024-25 campaign at the Etihad.

However, it is believed the current plan is to keep Gundogan on for the final year of his contract to provide valuable experience for Pep Guardiola.
