Tottenham could lose attacker Harry Kane if they don’t produce the goods this season, according to Football Insider pundit Noel Whelan.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Leeds United and Coventry City forward insisted that Spurs need to be wary as Kane was the sort of player they could lose if they don’t start winning some sort of silverware.
Roy Keane previously urged Manchester United to go sign Kane on Sky Sports much to the surprise of his fellow pundits and Whelan insisted that the former United midfielder wasn’t joking around.
Whelan stated that while it may not be publicly reported, Kane was a wanted man due to there not being many centre-forwards out there who can do what he can do.
“In my opinion, he is your overall complete striker, he has everything you would want for a striker,” Whelan told Football Insider.
“He has pace, intelligence, he can score left-foot, right-foot, inside the box, outside the box, he can score headers as well and he can be utilised in the No.10 role as well.
“The kid is just brilliant and that’s why Tottenham need to be wary as if they don’t produce this season or start winning some sort of silverware, them sort of players will be going.
“They may have just built a new stadium, Harry Kane is wanted by a lot of teams, it might not come out publicly, but Roy Keane said it ‘go get Kane’, he said it on Sky and he’s not joking.
“There are not many centre-forwards out there like Harry Kane, that can do what he can do.”
Kane is yet to win a major piece of silverware during his career but did help Mauricio Pochettino’s side reach the Champions League final last season.
The 26-year-old forward has scored nine goals in his opening 12 appearances of the season and is contracted to stay at Spurs until 2024.
