Alan Hutton heaped praise on Celtic attacker Odsonne Edouard for stepping up to the plate by being able to deliver the goals for the Hoops.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-Rangers defender claimed that he hates it when the 21-year-old plays his former side as he always seems to do well against the Gers.
Edouard has scored five goals in his six outings at Celtic Park but failed to get on the scoresheet during the 2-0 loss away from home to Livingston on Sunday.
Hutton seemed impressed by how the Celtic forward had become the club’s main source of goals as he pointed out The Bhoys have a very large demanding fanbase to contend with.
“He’s definitely their main man when it comes to scoring goals,” Hutton told Football Insider.
“I hate when he plays against Rangers as he always seems to do well and scores, he is really a thorn in Rangers’ side.
“But I know Griffiths has done well over the years, had his own problems off-the-field, so yeah he’s definitely stepped up the plate to be the main guy.
“It’s a massive club, with a massive fanbase who demand high standards, so he is definitely setting the tone for them.”
Edouard has scored nine goals across the 17 outings he has made in all competitions this season and has also registered five assists.
The 21-year-old joined the Hoops from Paris Saint-Germain in 2018 and is contracted to stay with Neil Lennon’s side until 2022.
