Exclusive: Pundit on Lewis Ferguson potentially signing for Celtic - 'Delighted'
Frank McAvennie would be “delighted” if Celtic signed Aberdeen midfielder Lewis Ferguson in 2021.
However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former Hoops and St Mirren striker fears there may not be room for the 21-year-old at Parkhead as Neil Lennon already has “too many” midfielders .
Ferguson has enjoyed a fantastic start to the 2020/21 campaign and his 15 appearances across all competitions have yielded nine goals and three assists.
In September, his uncle and Rangers legend Barry Ferguson revealed that Lewis could sign for Celtic despite his family’s ties to Ibrox.
Neil Lennon bolstered his midfield options in the summer with the addition of David Turnbull from Motherwell on a four-year deal.
He now competes with Scott Brown, Callum McGregor, Nir Bitton, Olivier Ntcham, Tom Rogic and Ismaila Soro for a starting spot in the midfield.

When asked by Football Insider if he expected Ferguson to join one of the Old Firm clubs in 2021, McAvennie said: “Celtic already have too many players in that position.
“Just look at David Turnbull, he cannot get in the team and even Olivier Ntcham is not getting in the team. You would not want to be one of them.
“If he signed for Celtic I would be delighted because he is a damn good player but I cannot see it.
“I think the boy will go to England.“
Speaking on his nephew’s future, Barry Ferguson told Go Radio: ““I don’t think it would be a factor in Lewis making that decision that his dad and his uncle played for Rangers.
“Whether Celtic are interested in him, I don’t know. I know there’s been a lot of talk about Celtic and Rangers and if I’m being honest, I think he’s good enough to play for both of those teams.”
