Danny Ings would be a “great addition” for Tottenham Hotspur and could take them to the “next level”, according to Gabriel Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa and England striker claimed Spurs are missing a “top, top striker” and Ings fits the bill perfectly.
Ings is hesitant to commit his future to Southampton amid fears that manager Ralph Hasenhuttl could quit the club.
The red-hot striker has scored 29 goals in 51 Premier League games since the beginning of last season.
Asked by Football Insider what he made of Spurs’ interest in Ings, Agbonlahor said: “I think it would be a great addition.
“Kane could play as a number 10, behind Ings or vice-versa to be honest they can both play there.
“I just think it would take Spurs to the next level, they’re missing that extra striker with top, top quality.
“I do like Vinicius but I think if you get Danny Ings you’re making a statement and he could be the reason they go on and finish in the top four this season.”
Ings moved to Southampton initially on loan from Liverpool in 2018 after injury savaged his Anfield career.
The England international found the net four times in 25 games for Liverpool but has been revitalised on the south coast and he ended last season as the Premier League’s second top scorer behind Jamie Vardy.
