Derby County, QPR and Millwall are leading the race to sign Jack Clarke from Tottenham this month, Football Insider has learned.

The 19-year-old is set to go out on a new loan after Spurs recalled him early from his season-long spell at Leeds United.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider the Championship trio Derby, QPR and Millwall are the three clubs now best placed to land Clarke amid widespread interest from clubs in the second tier.

Middlesbrough, Fulham, Swansea City and Nottingham Forest are among those who have also registered their interest in the winger, who joined Spurs for £9.5million last summer before being loaned straight back to Leeds.

Football Insider has learned that the quartet have now slipped behind the leading pack in the chase for Clarke.

Of the three leading clubs, only seventh-placed Millwall are challenging strongly for promotion with QPR six points adrift of the play-off positions in 15th spot and Derby eight behind in 17th.

Jose Mourinho has made up his mind that Clarke will go out on a fresh loan following his recall from Leeds.

Spurs want the young attacker to get regular game time at Championship level in order to develop after he stagnated at Leeds in the opening half of the campaign.

He has had to make do with just three Leeds appearances this season, two of which came in the League Cup.

The United academy product has not started a single league match and had just one 19-minute sub appearance in the Championship.

In the latest Tottenham news, it can be REVEALED that Mourinho's charm offensive has worked and a Spurs player has made contract U-turn.
