QPR, Peterborough and MK Dons have joined Swansea City in the chase for red-hot Crawley striker Max Watters, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The 21-year-old is likely to leave Broadfield Stadium in January if the club's asking price is met.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that QPR are battling second-tier rivals Swansea and League One promotion hopefuls Peterborough for the forward's signature.

Watters has scored an incredible 13 goals in 14 league appearances this season to help the Red Devils to ninth in the table.

He has also netted three goals in three domestic cup appearances, including an 88th minute winner in the second round of the FA Cup at Wimbledon last month.

His goal set up a third-round tie against Leeds United on 10 January but it is possible that the striker will have left the club by then.

The summer signing from Doncaster Rovers has also enjoyed spells at Mickleover, Gainsborough Trinity and Grantham in his career.

QPR boss Mark Warburton is keen to add another striker to his squad in the January transfer window.

The Championship side have struggled in front of goal this season, with near-£2million summer signing Lyndon Dykes failing to score in any of his last eight.

The 22-year-old has struggled to get game time at Villa Park since the arrival of Ollie Watkins from Brentford.
