Rangers are in advanced talks to sell Alfredo Morelos to Lille in a deal worth £17million, Football Insider understands.

The Colombia international is understood to be keen on joining the Ligue 1 outfit after three years at Ibrox.

A source at Ibrox has told Football Insider that the two clubs are close to agreeing on an eight-figure fee for the 24-year-old and that a deal could be done as early as next week.

The £17million fee would smash Rangers' record transfer sale, which currently stands at the £9million received when they sold Alan Hutton to Tottenham in 2008.

Rangers are set to kick off their new Premiership campaign on Saturday with a trip to Aberdeen and it remains to be seen whether Morelos is involved.

The six-cap hitman arrived at Ibrox for just £1million and has gone on to establish himself as a vitally important member of the Light Blues' squad.

He has scored a total of 77 goals in 137 appearances for Steven Gerrard's men and netted 29 times across all competitions last season.

His current contract at Rangers, which was signed back in March 2019, is set to run until the summer of 2023.

Lille are in the market for a new striker as current star striker Victor Osimhen closes in on a move to Napoli, as confirmed by the French club's president Gerard Lopez.

The 21-year-old netted 18 times in 36 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit, including twice in the Champions League.
