Exclusive: Rangers stance on selling Matondo to Leeds revealed

Leeds are making a move for Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo as they look to bolster their attacking options, sources have told Football Insider.

Rangers are open to offers for Matondo as they look to offload players after their failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Football Insider had previously reported that the Gers were waiting on Champions League qualification before making big-money signings, with the club missing out on around £40million in revenue after failing to do so.

Leeds are in the market for a winger before the transfer window shuts as Daniel Farke looks to replace Crysencio Summerville, who joined West Ham earlier this month.

Matondo, 23, managed 31 appearances in all competitions for Rangers last season, contributing six goals and four assists.

The winger would add to the growing Welsh contingent at Elland Road.

Leeds United have other targets than Rabbi Matondo

Matondo is just one of several targets the Championship club have considered in their bid to sign a winger before the August 31st cut-off.

Football Insider revealed that the West Yorkshire giants are looking at Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe and have been told it will cost at least £15million.

The Whites have also been considering a move for Stoke City’s Million Manhoef as the club continues to weigh up the options.

Leeds are expected to lose another attacking option in the coming weeks after Brighton triggered Georginio Rutter’s £40million release clause.

Farke’s men have failed to win either of their two opening games this season, with a 3-3 draw against Portsmouth being followed by a 3-0 loss at home to Middlesbrough.
