Exclusive: Robinson in awe of 'Very frustrated' Rangers player - 'He's impressed me every time'

Paul Robinson showered Rangers attacker Alfredo Morelos with praise despite him being sent off in the 2-1 win over Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-England goalkeeper dismissed the idea that Morelos’ disciplinary record hurt his potential transfer value as he claimed all top players have an edge.

The 23-year-old Gers forward failed to score against Celtic on Sunday and ended up being sent off after picking up a second yellow card for simulation.

Robinson explained that Morelos was likely very frustrated over his continued failure to score against Celtic but admitted the attacker always manages to impress him when he watches him.

When asked if Morelos’ behavioural issues will affect his price tag as it could be off-putting, Robinson told Football Insider: “No I don’t think so as all top players have an edge to them.

“They have a character if you like, an edge, and I don’t think he is any different.

“I think he is very frustrated at his lack of ability to score against Celtic but other than that he keeps scoring.

“He’s impressed me every time I have seen him play and there will be teams who will have earmarked him as a potential transfer.

“But at this time, I don’t see the value in him leaving Rangers at the moment, especially not in January.”

The Colombian forward has scored 28 goals in 35 outings this season for Steven Gerrard’s side.

Morelos is contracted to stay at Ibrox until 2023 after signing a contract extension in March 2019.
