Paul Robinson suggested that Celtic will “have to look at” offers of above £20million for Odsonne Edouard amid growing speculation about Premier League interest.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former England international pointed out that players in Scotland’s top-flight often have their head turned when Premier League sides come calling.
Crystal Palace are reportedly lining up a £20million swoop for Edouard in January as he’s the club’s first-choice target when it comes to boosting their attacking options.
Robinson explained that if a £20million offer was made then Celtic would have to look at it as it’s a decent figure, but revealed he expected Neil Lennon’s side to demand at least a little bit more than £20million for him.
When asked about Crystal Palace hoping to lure Edouard away from Celtic by offering £20million, Robinson told Football Insider: “I think when there’s that kind of money being bandied around, Rangers and Celtic have to look at that.
“Historically players in the Scottish Premier League, their heads are turned when the Premier League comes knocking as you don’t get many opportunities to play in the Premier League.
“It’s a decent figure but I expect Celtic will want more for him and if it something Palace are looking at, then they’ll have to play a little bit more I think.”
Edouard has scored 12 goals and registered 12 assists in the 24 appearances he has made for the Hoops across all competitions this season and is currently the club’s joint-top scorer alongside Ryan Christie.
The 21-year-old Frenchman has been at Celtic since 2018 after joining from French giants Paris Saint-Germain, and he is contracted to stay with the Hoops until 2022.
