Derby winger Florian Jozefzoon has emerged as a target for German side Schalke, Football Insider understands.

New Schalke boss David Wagner is understood to be an admirer of the 28-year-old attacker and is keen to bring him to Germany ahead of the upcoming season.

A German source has told Football Insider that the ex-Huddersfield manager is keen to take advantage of his knowledge of English football by recruiting Jozefzoon.

Wagner has already raided England to sign Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny on loan and now he is exploring a move for Jozefzoon.

Derby could be willing to cash-in on Jozefzoon as they look to trim their squad following their failure to win promotion to the Premier League last season.

Jozefzoon joined Derby from Championship rivals Brentford for £3million last summer, but he struggled to hold down a regular spot in Frank Lampard's side last season.

The former Ajax and PSV attacker made just 15 starts in all competitions and he could be tempted away in search of regular first-team football next season.
