Sheffield United and Burnley are plotting moves to sign non-league teenage sensation Paddy Lane in January, Football Insider understands.

The 18-year-old attacker has been earning reviews for his performances for Hyde United in the Betvictor Northern Premier League this season.

Sources from Sheffield United and Burnley have told Football Insider that Lane’s form has brought him onto their radar as they look at options ahead of the forthcoming transfer window.

Scouts have been flocking to Hyde to cast an eye over the wonderkid, who joined the first-team set-up from their academy this time last year.

Hyde are aware of the growing interest in Lane and, although they would be reluctant to lose their prized asset, they will not stand in his way to move into the professional ranks.

Burnley and Sheffield United both have the financial resources to make the non-league outfit an offer they can’t refuse.

In addition, the possibility of playing for a Premier League club would be extremely attractive for Lane.

The versatile playmaker, who can play off both flanks or in the number 10 role, has scored 12 goals and laid on six assists so far this season.

Chris Wilder’s side have made an outstanding return to the Premier League, accumulating 19 points from 14 matches ahead of tonight’s clash against Arsenal.

Burnley are one point and two places behind the Blades after losing 4-1 to Manchester City on Tuesday night.

In other Sheffield United news, it can be REVEALED that Everton are plotting a move to sign ‘the new Jamie Vardy’.
