Sheffield United have made moves to sign Man United stars Jesse Lingard and Brandon Williams, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

Bramall Lane boss Chris Wilder is in the market for an attacking midfield goalscorer and left-back in this window.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that United have approached United about potential deals for both Lingard, 28, and Williams, 20.

Man United have yet to decide whether to allow Lingard, who is contracted until 2022, to leave in this transfer window.

Williams is expected to be given the green light for a loan after slipping down the left-back pecking order.

Wilder is working to strengthen his squad after Tuesday's Premier League win over Newcastle United gave hope the bottom club can avoid relegation this season.

He has set his sights on the Man United pairing due to their calibre and proven top-flight experience.

Lingard started United's FA Cup win over Watford last Saturday but hasn't started a Premier League game for over a year.

Nevertheless, the 24-times England international has played 210 times for United and has weighed in with 33 goals and 20 assists.

Williams is less established but has graduated from the United youth ranks to make 42 first-team appearances despite only turning 20 last September.

He has played in just six first-team matches in the current campaign and has not made the matchday squad for the last six Premier League games.
