Exclusive: Sheffield Wednesday line up swoop for star Foxes signed for £18m in '16

Sheffield Wednesday are lining up a move for Leicester City flop Ahmed Musa, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The 28-year-old forward has been released by Al Nassr and is now available on a free transfer after he helped them win the Saudi league.

A Wednesday source has told Football Insider the club are keeping close tabs on Musa’s situation as they plot an out-of-window deal.

The 87-times Nigeria international has excellent experience at international elite club level, including in the Champions League and Premier League.

He made his name at CSKA Moscow as a consistent scorer and creator before joining Leicester for £18million in 2016.

But Musa could not repeat his form in Russia for the top-flight outfit amid intense competition for a starting role.

He made 33 appearances for Leicester and scored five goals before being sold at a loss two years later to Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr following a short spell back on loan at CSKA.

Upon his departure, Musa claimed that Leicester had ‘forced him out of the club.’

In his 58 appearances for Al Nassr, he scored 11 goals and provided 14 assists, helping the team win the 2018-19 Saudi league and Super Cup.

They announced his departure at the end of last month on Twitter and wished him well in his future endeavours.

Musa can play anywhere across the forward line, but has generally been used as a centre-forward or left-sided attacker.

In other news, Sheffield Wednesday are working on a deal to sign Brighton 24-year-old.
