Southampton are plotting a move for West Brom striker Brandon Thomas-Asante, sources have told Football Insider.

The Saints have turned their attention to the prolific striker as they work on signing a replacement for Torino-bound Che Adams.

The 25-year-old forward has impressed for West Brom since joining from Salford in 2022, and has finished as top scorer in his first two seasons at the club.

Adams’ departure does leave a hole in the Southampton team, considering he’s been a regular in the starting lineup during his tenure.

The Scotland international has played 191 games for the Saints, including 46 last season as the club gained promotion back to the Premier League.

Considering Thomas-Asante’s contract with the Hawthorns is up next summer, this window allows West Brom to cash in on him.

Southampton will hope Brandon Thomas-Asante provides a goal threat in the Premier League

Thomas-Asante has no experience in the English top flight, but he has worked his way up the pyramid from the National League.

The Ghana international has been a proven goal scorer in every division he’s played in and has also been versatile by playing across the frontline.

But there will be pressure on him if he does sign for the Saints, as a lack of goals was a big problem for the club during the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.

Southampton scored 36 goals that season, which was a contributing factor in their relegation.

At the other end of the field, Southampton could lose Kyle Walker-Peters to West Ham.
