Exclusive: Stevenage plot raid to sign striker with 25 goals this season

Stevenage are among a host of Football League clubs chasing in-form non-league hot-shot Adam Marriott this month, Football Insider understands.

Marriott is the highest scorer in the top six tiers of English football with a staggering 25 goals in 23 games for King’s Lynn Town so far this season.

A source at Stevenage has told Football Insider that the club are keen on bringing Marriott back to the club to help bolster their attacking options and boost their hopes of survival in the League Two relegation battle.

Marriott was part of the youth academy at Norwich City but left in 2006 for Cambridge United before spells at Stevenage and Lincoln who he helped win promotion to the Football League in 2017.

Marriott’s prolific form in front of goal has spearheaded King’s Lynn to the top of the National League North table and they are aware of the growing interest in the deadly striker.

The 28-year-old’s fine goalscoring form has not gone unnoticed higher up the football pyramid with scouts from League One and League Two sides making regular checks on the forward this season.

A number of League One and League Two clubs are looking to bring in a new striker during this month’s transfer window to bolster their attacking options and Marriott is thought to figure highly on their wanted lists.

King’s Lynn are keen to keep hold of Marriott this month as they look to maintain their promotion bid, but they are bracing themselves for offers for their prized asset before the transfer window closes.

In other Stevenage news, Football Insider can reveal a League Two rival have seen a bid rejected for a League One attacker.
