Tottenham are talking to Swansea City about including multiple players in a £15million deal for Joe Rodon, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
In a new twist to discussions about luring the Wales centre-back, 22, to north London, Spurs have offered fringe stars to sweeten the transfer.
One name that has been reported is USA international defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, while others not in Jose Mourinho’s side have also been suggested.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Tottenham are confident of completing the signing of Rodon by Friday’s 5pm deadline even though an agreement is not yet in place.
The value of the transfer will be around £15m, possibly straight cash or possibly including one or more players.
The Londoners had a bid for the centre-back rejected on the international window deadline day last week.
But they have subsequently held extensive talks over a potential deal and are offering multiple formulas in a bid to get the deal over the finish line.
These include a cash-only option, players-plus-cash as well as a potential loan back.
The Championship club are said to want nearly £18m for their academy product, although are likely to settle for a deal worth £15m.
West Ham had also been in contention for Rodon but Tottenham are now clear favourites to sign him.
Rodon broke into the Swansea side after their demotion from the Premier League in 2018.
The 6t 3in defender has played 54 times for the club, 52 of which have come in the Championship.
He has played the full 90 minutes of all four of Swansea’s league matches this season as well as representing Wales in their 3-0 defeat to England at Wembley last Thursday night.
In other news, we can reveal a critical Gareth Bale update ahead of Tottenham clash against West Ham on Saturday.
