EXCLUSIVE By Wayne Veysey
Tottenham are set to keep close tabs on Leicester City trio James Maddison, Harvey Barnes and Demarai Gray this season, Football Insider understands.
The north Londoners are planning for the future by scheduling regular assessments of three of the star attacking players in Brendan Rodgers’ side.
A Spurs source has told Football Insider that playmaker Maddison and wingers Barnes and Gray are all firmly on the radar of the club’s recruitment team ahead of January and next summer.
The three players are all English, young – Maddison is 22, Gray is 23 and Barnes is 21 – and immensely talented with the potential to develop into top-class Premier League performers.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is a firm admirer of the trio, with Maddison and Gray long-term targets of his club’s scouts.
Maddison is the most established if the three, and has made a big impact at Leicester since signing from Norwich City in the summer of 2018, with eight goals and nine assists from 44 matches.
Gray has yet to translate his immense promise into consistent matchwinning performances but his electric pace is attractive to Tottenham and they bid for him before he signed his Leicester contract in 2017.
Barnes is emerging as a key player in Rodgers’ team after making a huge impact while on loan at West Brom in the first half of last season.
The left-winger has made five appearances in the current campaign, scoring in the 2-1 win over Sheffield United last month.
In other Tottenham news, it can be REVEALED that the club are lining up a sensational £60million offer.
