Tottenham have made a move for Southend's teenage sensation Charlie Kelman as they look to win the race for his signature ahead of the summer window, Football Insider understands.

A club source has told Football Insider that Spurs have made enquiries with the League One outfit about a deal for the USA Under-18 international as they look to trump West Ham and other Premier League clubs.

Tottenham scouts have delivered glowing reports on Kelman after watching him for both the Southend first team and also their age-group sides.

Kelman is regarded as one of the best young talents in the country following his goalscoring exploits for Southend's youth sides and he has broken into the first-team this season to make eight appearances in League One.

The teenager has been used mainly in cameo roles, either as a substitute or, like on Saturday, when he started his side's 2-0 defeat to Peterborough United but was withdrawn at half-time.

Kelman made a sensational impact at senior level when he marked his debut in January with a stunning goal from the halfway line against Plymouth that won League One Goal of the Month for January.
