Exclusive: Tottenham launch 'Fantastic' transfer swoop that Bent claims is classic Spurs
Darren Bent insists Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell could push for a place in the England squad if he joins Tottenham this summer.
The former Spurs and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, claims the playmaker has gone “under the radar” with his “fantastic” performances this season.
As revealed by Football Insider, Spurs have expressed their interest in signing the Canaries’ 22-year-old after his impressive debut campaign in the Premier League.
Bent believes that impressive performances from Jack Grealish, Mason Mount and James Maddison have meant Cantwell’s displays have gone unnoticed at times.
Bent told Football Insider: “He’s young, he’s English and Spurs have been doing that for years, even before I got there. They obviously like to get young players from the British Isles.
“Todd Cantwell, I think he’s gone under the radar a little bit. I’ve been big fan of his this year but it’s been the likes of Grealish and Maddison that have stole his thunder.

“He’s had an absolutely fantastic season, he’s a very good player and I think if Norwich do go down he’s going to be desperate.
“I think another season in the Premier League, if he goes to Spurs and can nail down a place there, there’s no doubt he’ll be looking for international honours because his performances this season have been very, very, very good.
“He’s just been outshone by the likes of Mason Mount, Grealish and Maddison.”
Cantwell, a graduate of Norwich’s youth system, has six goals and two assists in his 29 Premier League appearances this season.
He has 59 games under his belt for the Canaries after breaking into the first team just last term.
