Exclusive: Tottenham set sights on signing Ligue 1 sensation as price plummets

Tottenham are keeping tabs on Monaco rising star Benoit Badiashile ahead of the summer, Football Insider can reveal.

The giant centre-back, 19, has emerged as a star of French football and is tipped for a move to the Premier League or La Liga in the next window.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider the club are among multiple leading clubs monitoring Badiashile and have asked to be kept informed of his situation.

Spurs are in the market for at least one centre-back this summer amid doubts over the futures of senior men Jan Vertonghen and Juan Foyth, while the versatile Eric Dier is out of contract next year.

Badiashile is set to be available for a knockdown price as transfer fees plummet across the global game.

The coronavirus crisis has caused financial havoc within football and even the elite clubs are expecting to operate with dramatically reduced budgets this summer.

Ligue 1 could see an exodus of top stars after the French government last week announced football was suspended until September.

Monaco have failed to qualify for European football for the second season running and are among the French sides set to sell some of their prize assets.

Estimates suggest Ligue 1 is facing a £175m financial black hole.

Badiashile broke into their first team last season aged just 17 and already has 46 senior games under his belt.

The teenager, who only turned 19 in March, has made 16 league starts among 20 appearances this season and already has 15 caps for France at Under-19 level.

In other Tottenham news, it can be REVEALED that a senior star has rejected a new deal and started learning a new language.
