Tottenham have tabled an offer for Bolton Wanderers rising star Luca Connell, Football Insider understands.
The Champions League finalists are trying to beat a host of Premier League clubs to the capture of the 18-year-old, who is a full-back who can also play in central midfield.
A Spurs source has told Football Insider the club have been frequently scouting the highly rated teenager following his breakthrough into the financially-stricken Bolton side this season.
The Londoners have tabled a contract offer to Connell, who is a free agent in the summer and can transfer for just a compensation fee paid to the relegated Championship club.
The youngster has been a shining light in a desperate few months at Bolton, who are on the brink of administration and are set to be hit with a major points deduction after failing to compete all of their fixtures as they were relegated from the English second tier.
Connell broke into the Bolton side in January and made 12 appearances in the last months of the campaign.
The Republic of Ireland youth international started at left-back for the Trotters and has also been used in a central midfield anchorman role, which is seen by many as his future position.
