Tottenham have offered a lucrative contract and multi-million signing-on fee to Chelsea star Willian.

The attacking midfielder is one of Jose Mourinho's top targets this summer and he has personally held talks with the player to persuade him to move to north London.

A Spurs source has told Football Insider the club have made early moves to take advantage of Willian's contract stalemate at Chelsea as they look to win the race for his signature this summer.

The Brazilian, who turns 32 in August, has been offered lucrative terms by Tottenham, including a big signing-on fee.

Mourinho is convinced the in-form star would be a value signing despite his age and the expensive terms.

He has earmarked the winger as a priority target as he looks to be reunited with the player he signed when he was manager of Chelsea.

Willian will be available on a free transfer at the end of this season, when his contract with the west London outfit is due to expire.

He has been in dazzling form since the Premier League restart, scoring four goals and providing two assists in his side's five matches, four of which they have won.

Willian has admitted talks with Chelsea over an extension have stalled as they have offered a two-year deal rather than the three-year contract he is seeking.

"I think it will be very difficult for me to renew because Chelsea offered me two years, I asked for three and it ended there, we didn’t talk anymore, we didn’t negotiate anymore,| Willian told Expediente Futebol.

"Three years - Chelsea said it would be impossible, so for now there's this difficulty."
