Exclusive: West Brom have loan-to-buy bid accepted in breakthrough

West Brom have had a loan-to-buy bid for midfielder Okay Yokuslu accepted by Celta Vigo in a transfer breakthrough, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Premier League strugglers have now been given the green light to discuss terms with the 26-year-old Turkish midfielder.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that the deal is an initial loan with an obligation to buy if West Brom avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Celta Vigo have accepted the latest proposal and the transfer will go through if the player gives it the green light.

He has been capped 28 times by Turkey and played 72 times for Celta Vigo as well as more than 250 times for clubs in his homeland.

The Spanish side are willing to let the 6ft 3in midfielder leave as he has not been a regular starter this season.

Yokuslu has made 14 appearances for Celta across all competitions but has made just three league starts.

Able to play central midfield as well as slot in at centre-back, he has been targeted due to his versatility, experience and calibre.

West Brom are facing a huge battle to avoid instant relegation to the Championship.

Allardyce’s side, who were thrashed 5-0 by Man City on Wednesday night, are 19th in the top flight and six points from safety.
