West Brom have made an enquiry about re-signing Everton defender Mason Holgate on loan, Football Insider understands.

Holgate, 22, spent the second half of last season on loan at the the Hawthorns after finding himself down the pecking order at Goodison Park.

A West Brom source has told Football Insider the club have made a fresh move for Holgate even though they are also pursuing Darnell Furlong from Queens Park Rangers.

Holgate was used mainly at right-back by West Brom last season, but new manager Slaven Bilic wants to play the England Under-21 international at centre-back if he is successful in signing him.

Everton have yet to make a decision on whether to loan out Holgate again or keep him around at Goodison Park to provide cover in defence for the new campaign.

The rising-star defender impressed during his time at the Hawthorns, making 23 appearances, including 21 starts in the Championship and play-off matches.

Bilic has already brought in three players in this window, with Filip Krovinovic arriving on loan and Kenneth Zohore and Semi Ajayi signing on a permanent basis.
