West Brom have set their sights on competing with Aston Villa and other rivals to sign Coventry City sensation Sam McCallum, Football Insider can reveal.

The left-back, 19, is on the radar of multiple clubs following his emergence at the League One high flyers over the last six months.

A West Brom source has told Football Insider the club are keeping close tabs on McCallum, 19, and have been so excited at what they have seen they are ready to blow other clubs away to get him.

The battle for McCallum comes after he broke into the Coventry team at the end of last season, following his arrival in the summer of 2018 from non-league Hearn Bay.

Only just turned 19, the versatile full-back, who can also slot in on the right side of defence, has made a big impression on veteran lower league manager Mark Robins.

McCallum has made seven appearances this season, including four league starts, for the team that is second in the League One table.

He has now accumulated 15 appearances for Coventry, and the growing interest in him suggests he could make a move up the divisions irrespective of his side securing promotion.
