Darren Bent has heaped praise on West Ham manager David Moyes for the job he has done in his second spell at the club.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former England striker admitted Moyes was not a popular choice when appointed but insisted that West Ham fans need to give him credit.
The former Manchester United manager replaced Manuel Pellegrini at the end of last year and after a tricky transfer window has got off to a great start this season.
Prior to the Liverpool game, the Hammers were unbeaten in four Premier League games including draws with Tottenham and Manchester City.
Moyes praised West Ham’s owners in the week for their patience and giving him control over the club’s strategy.
As quoted by the Guardian, he said: “The Davids have given me as much control as I would possibly want.”
And Bent believes that is a very wise move from David Sullivan and David Gold.
He told Football Insider: “We know that if you let him take control he can make a team very stable.
“At times you’ve got to be very patient with the manager and I think David Moyes has earned that.
“I know he wasn’t a particular favourite with the fans when he was appointed but sometimes you’ve got to give people credit and time.
“When you give people that type of time and that kind of confidence and I think he’s done that at West Ham.”
Moyes has been in charge of 62 West Ham games across both of his spells in east London.
He has won 19 of those ties, giving him a win percentage of 30.1 percent.
