West Ham and Southampton are preparing to table bids Southend's teenage sensation Charlie Kelman, Football Insider understands.

Kelman is regarded as one of the best young talents in the country following his goalscoring exploits for Southend's youth sides and he enhanced his reputation with a stunning goal from the halfway line on his first-team debut against Plymouth on Saturday.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that West Ham were among several clubs in attendance at Roots Hall to cast an eye over Kelman against Plymouth.

Kelman’s potential has not gone unnoticed higher up the football pyramid with a number of Premier League and Championship sides tracking him.

West Ham and Southampton see Kelman as a star in the making and they are keen to try and sign the attacker during this month’s transfer window.

Southend are braced for offers and the League One club will find it hard to resist a sizeable offer for their prize asset.

The 17-year-old forward scored a stunning 61 goals last season and he has again been prolific for the Southend’s youth sides this season.
In other Southampton and West Ham transfer news, a massive striker signing is in the offing.
