Exclusive: Whelan makes stunning £35m Celtic-PL club transfer claim
Noel Whelan has claimed “a lot of Premier League clubs” will be looking to sign Odsonne Edouard and claims it will cost at least £35million to prise him from Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aberdeen striker heaped praise on the 22-year-old for his well-rounded forward play.
The pundit also agreed with Chris Sutton’s stunning claim from his Daily Record column that Edouard is worth around £40 million, £15m than Kieran Tierney was sold for in a Scottish-record £25m deal last summer.
But Whelan did also add that it would take a special offer for the Hoops to let go of their most dangerous goal threat.
When asked if he believed Edouard was worth the £40 million that Sutton had suggested over the weekend, he told Football Insider: “I would say so, yeah.
“I think that’s probably about right, that £35-40 million mark, absolutely.

“He’s been fantastic for Celtic, he seems to have everything you want from a striker – he can run in behind, he’s got good height to him, he’s strong, he can turn.
“He’s got a bit of pace, he certainly knows where the goal is, and he can take free kicks as well. He’s a player that I’m sure a lot of clubs will be looking at come the end of the season.
“I’m sure that a lot of Premier League clubs will be looking at him, but it will take a big offer to prise him away from Celtic, that’s for sure.”
Edouard has hit 23 goals for the Bhoys so far this season, including 19 in 23 in the Scottish Premiership.
The former PSG man also 16 assists to his name in all competitions.
