Play-off finalists Aston Villa and Derby County are planning moves for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips if they win promotion to the Premier League, Football Insider understands.
Villa and Derby lock horns at Wembley in the Championship Play-Off final on Monday and both sides are drawing up lists of potential transfer targets if they succeed in winning the £170million showdown.
Sources at the two clubs have told Football Insider that Phillips figures highly on their wanted lists after impressing in fixtures against them in the Championship this season.
The 23-year-old’s future is up in the air in the wake of Leeds’ play-off heartache and he is attracting widespread Premier League interest, with Football Insider revealing last week that Norwich have joined Bournemouth and Southampton in the race to sign him and are preparing to submit bids.
Phillips has just two years to run on his current contract and Leeds are braced for offers after failing to tie him down to a new deal during the season.
His suitors hope the lure of playing in the Premier League will be enough to persuade the midfielder to leave his hometown club Leeds for a new challenge this summer.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that the club are to sell a midfielder for a “significant” fee after the Marcelo Bielsa green light.
