Wolves are in advanced talks with Simon Hunt to become their new sporting director, Football Insider can reveal.
The Premier League high flyers have been searching for a recruitment chief since Kevin Thelwell quit in February to join the New York Red Bulls.
A Wolves source has told Football Insider that the club are working out the finer points of a deal with Hunt and he could be appointed imminently.
The club have set their sights on the 57-year-old as they look to get someone in place ahead of the crucial summer transfer window.
Former Wrexham midfielder Hunt was previously the director of football at West Brom and Blackburn Rovers.
He has also managed clubs in the Swedish top division and held senior recruitment roles at Southampton, Ipswich Town and Hearts.
He had been working most recently at Championship promotion contenders Nottingham Forest.
Hunt has a big task on his hands to fill the shoes of the highly respected Thelwell.
He had played a huge role during the Fosun era in taking Wolves from the Championship to the upper reaches of the Premier League and European football.
Thelwell first moved to Molineux as academy manager in 2009, was then head of football development and recruitment, before becoming sporting director in 2016.
In other Wolves news, it can be revealed that the club are making progress on signing player from big rivals.
