Expert claims Josip Juranovic's 'head is turned' after 'surprise' Celtic development

Celtic star Josip Juranovic will have had his head turned by Premier League clubs who want to sign him.

That’s according to former Rangers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the defender’s potential departure.

According to Fabrizio Romano (20 June), Juranovic, 26, is expected to leave Celtic this summer amid interest from Premier League clubs.

The right-back only joined the Hoops in the summer of 2021 and became a key player during the 2021-22 campaign, making 35 appearances in all competitions.

He also scored five goals after being put on penalty duty by Ange Postecoglou.

McLeish insists the defender will have had his head turned by this reported interest.

“If he is being courted at Premier League level in England, I would say that’s the best league in the world,” McLeish told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild

“That has to turn a player’s head. Juranovic has only had one season there and that’s quite a surprise to hear Premier League clubs are interested.

“If the richest clubs in the world come in, it is hard to turn them down, that’s just a fact. They just can’t match the revenue in Scotland.”

Juranovic joined Celtic from Legia Warsaw after only spending one full season at the Polish club.

He made his debut against Rangers on 29 August 2021, playing as a makeshift left-back in the 1-0 loss.
