Expert: Crysencio Summerville will go 'right to the very top' after key Leeds United development

A rising-star expert claims Crysencio Summerville can go “right to the very top” after breaking into the Leeds United first team.

That is according to Spurs and youth football afficianado John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels and frequently attends academy games.

Summerville, 21, scored a last-gasp decider in a 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday (29 October).

The Netherlands Under-21 international penned a fresh four-year deal at Elland Road during the off-season to put speculation on his future to bed.

The winger, who has been handed the number 10 shirt this term, made his first top-flight start against Leicester last month in a clear sign that he has graduated from the Whites’ youth development programme.

Wenham has watched Summerville develop through the various youth levels and has high expectations now he is a Premier League player.

“I was pleased for a young Summerville, he is a player I have seen in the Under 21s a fair bit, I know Leeds fans rate him very highly,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He’s one of those players who just needs an opportunity. I believe there are a lot of players like that. If they get that chance to play football on the big stage then they can cement themselves.

“You can do what you want while playing for the academy but it’s all about when you get that big chance. It’s a whole other world in terms of strength, the atmosphere, the pressure.

“The players you play against are very, very different and you need to develop an in-game intelligence. It was always going to see how he transitioned.

“He seems to be getting a run of games and he has been given the number 10 shirt at Leeds as well so that is a sign from the club that they believe he can go right to the very top.

“I can’t wait to see how he does.”
