Expert predicts 'important' next Celtic signing after confirmed news
Celtic must sign another centre-back despite confirming the capture of Cameron Carter-Vickers.
That’s according to ex-Hoops hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about his former side’s latest signing.
Celtic confirmed the permanent signing of Carter-Vickers, 24, from Tottenham on 10 June.
The United States international signed a four-year deal after a successful loan spell in the 2021-22 campaign.
A Spurs source told Football Insider the following day (11 June) that Celtic have negotiated an up-front fee of £6million that could rise by a further £4million with add-ons.
McAvennie is delighted with the signing of the former Spurs defender but insists Celtic need more cover at the back.

“I am very happy with that,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I was always hopeful and it always looked on the cards. I would still like another one.
“What is going on with Jullien, I don’t know. He doesn’t seem to be in the manager’s plans.
“I think we need another centre-half, we need someone to compete with Cameron Carter-Vickers.
“That would really improve the team. You need competition for places. That is always a good thing.
“So, for me, that’s what I would do next because that’s important in my opinion.”
Carter-Vickers made 46 appearances across all competitions during the 2021-22 campaign.
The defender scored four goals as the Hoops lifted the Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup.
