Expert slams 'atrocious' refereeing as Tottenham v Liverpool footage analysed - 'where was VAR?'
Andy Madley was “atrocious” and gave Tottenham “nothing” in Sunday’s (6 November) game against Liverpool.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Tottenham lost 2-1 to Liverpool on Sunday as they dropped to fourth in the Premier League.
In the first half of the game, Ryan Sessegnon went down in the box under the challenge of Trent Alexander-Arnold but nothing was given by the referee or VAR.
Wenham was left fuming with the referees’ performance.
“The referee was atrocious yesterday, really, really poor,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I don’t think he awarded us anything until the 78th minute and it was a nothing free-kick in the middle of the park.
“I think he was feeling the pressure of not giving us anything throughout the game. There was stadium-wide chanting of ‘who’s the scouser in the black?’.
“I haven’t heard that chant for a long time, maybe you get it in the lower divisions but I certainly haven’t heard it unified in a stadium like that.
“Darren England was on VAR and sent Cancelo off on Saturday for the same incident that Alexander-Arnold did on Sessegnon If you look at it, it’s exactly the same.
“Apparently there was no need to look at that, just waved on. Where was VAR?”
Mohamed Salah scored both goals for the Reds as Harry Kane’s 11th Premier League goal of the season proved nothing more than a consolation.
Tottenham are next in action against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup on Wednesday (9 November).
