Expert suggests Arsenal response to '£100m' Man City bid for Bukayo Saka

Arsenal would laugh at Man City if they submitted a £100million bid for Bukayo Saka, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Man City do not need to strengthen their forward line and Saka will instead sign a “big” new contract with Arsenal.

The Daily Mail reported on Monday (6 June) that City have stepped up their interest in the 20-year-old and have made him a future target.

It is claimed Arsenal want to tie the winger down to a new contract this summer with his current deal running until 2024.

“I think that’s just paper talk,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Man City are settled. They’ve got [Phil] Foden and [Riyad] Mahrez who play in the Saka position who are probably on par with him. They’ve got [Jack] Grealish and [Raheem] Sterling on the opposite side, they’ve got [Erling] Haaland.

“They need to get players out rather than bring players in. That’s why they are looking to ship out Gabriel Jesus.

“I definitely don’t think Pep will be looking to strengthen his forward line.

“I’m sure Arsenal will be laughing at any bids. If you’re bidding for Saka you’re talking crazy money, another £100million again.

“Such a young player with so much potential, I don’t think it’s even an option.

“I’m sure Saka will sign a big contract with Arsenal and he’ll be there for a number of years. Maybe if Arsenal don’t get into the Champions League he might look to move later on in his career.”
