Expert tells 'abysmal' departing Tottenham chief 'good riddance' after confirmed news

Tottenham expert John Wenham has told former recruitment chief Ben Carey “good riddance” after he left his role at the club.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On 27 April, Tottenham confirmed Head of Recruitment Brian Carey had decided to leave his role following six years at the Club.

Wenham is delighted to see him leave after years of “horrendous” recruitment.

“Our recruitment has been abysmal,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It’s been horrendous. It’s the reason we haven’t secured a higher place in the league.

“So much money has been wasted. I think Tottenham have been very, very kind in what they have said about him now he’s gone.

“If you are looking to give him credit for some of our youth players, well, he had nothing to do with that.

“I know for a fact David Pleat leads the youth recruitment. So, what has he achieved?

“That summer we wasted £140million on Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sessegnon and Clarke?

“We didn’t spend anything in the two windows before that. Good riddance, the recruitment has been woeful.

“I am more than happy for Paratici to overhaul the entire system.”

Fabio Paratici joined Tottenham from Juventus in the summer of 2021.

He has already been lauded for his captures of Cristian Romero and Dejan Kulusevski as well as Antonio Conte.
